Are Sainsburys Making the Same Fatal Mistake?
Posted February 26th, 2010 by AdrianYou know I’m normally looking forward to the weekend about this time of the day on a Friday, but I’ve just been looking at Sainsburys latest Tweets… And I’m getting MAAAD!

At Sainsburys? I wish...
Let’s get one thing straight – I’m a Sainsburys customer. But I’m not happy.
I switched to Sainsburys around two years ago because they finally saw the light and stopped shoving own brands down our throats.
At the time they also introduced value ranges (yes I know they’re own brand) but they offered good value in my opinion. Now things are changing – and not for the better from a customer point of view.
6 Easy Ways to Lose Customer Loyalty Forever
Here are some of the best ways to lose numerous customers over the next few months:
1. Keep gradually increasing the prices so hopefully customers won’t notice you changing traditional prices ending in £*.99, to an anything goes £*.01, £*.03, £*.05, £*.07…
2. Thinking that a smile from your staff makes up for an ever increasing cost in my shopping basket (customer service is important – but doesn’t make up for poor value)
3. Steadily continue to reduce offers like two for one (although that’s probably because your suppliers can’t afford it anymore)
4. Keep offering a poor value meat and veg section – Have you ever been into Morrisons?
5. Introduce more cartons for your products that are more difficult to recycle but cost you less to transport – yet you still charge us more for the same repackaged product
And…
I’ve saved the best until last…
6. Introduce more of your ‘Sainsburys own brand’ and get rid of my branded favourites… Just like you did in the bad old days…
Here’s My Problem with You Mr Sainsbury
I turned my back on the value supermarkets like Lidle, because you dangled a carrot and offered me more choice but at similar prices. Now you’re taking advantage of me again and I’m going to have to make a change to my supermarket of choice – very soon…
