Posted August 4th, 2009 by AdrianIf you’ve never used essential oils before, you’ll definitely be missing out on the powerful qualities of some these highly aromatic oils. They have the ability to invigorate, soothe and relax your mind, body and spirit. In short, essential oils are the perfect way to de-stress yourself by enjoying these natural oils that are the simple extracts from the many plants, trees and grasses from all over the world.
Easy Ways to Use Essential Oils
Using essential oils at home can be an amazing way to improving your well-being and have been developed widely for use in aromatics, perfumes, beauty treatment, massage and for medicinal qualities. Essential oils can be used for home fragrances for reviving a humble potpourri, used in your bath to relax your mind and body or for creating your very own beauty treatments.
Essential oils form part of many alternative medicines and provide another source of relief aside from traditional remedies. They can be used in First Aid for cuts, bruises, cold, aching muscles and help with headaches. Choosing the right essential oil is a must for getting the most out of these highly sought after oils.
Essential Oils – Massage
I can vouch from personal experience that a full body massage with soothing oils is one of the most relaxing experiences I’ve ever had. In fact, I practically dozed off during my one full hour of relaxation heaven – but it wasn’t cheap!
You don’t need the expensive services of a professional masseuse or an aromatherapist to get the most out of a soothing shoulder or back massage using pure essential oils. However, specific oils are usually chosen to suit the individual so always read up on what may or may not suit your skin tone.
As a quick guide, for a do-it-yourself essential oil blend massage, follow these simple rules:
1. Start and prepare your essential oil ‘blend’ with a base oil such as sweet almond oil or grapeseed oil.
2. Select an essential oil for maximum relaxation: Chamomile, Clary Sage, Cedarwood, Juniper, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang are good examples
3. Mix only a 1 – 3% dilution of your essential oil to your chosen base oil and 20 drops of essential oil is approximately equal to one millilitre (1/4 tsp)
4. Test the massage on an area of your skin first, such as feet or hands, to ensure you have the most soothing oil for your skin type.
5. Enlist the help of a willing partner to massage in the essential oils
6. Relax… then relax some more…
Essential Oils and Home Fragrances
Essential oils are used in many home fragrances including elements contained higher quality incense sticks, incense cones and fragrance oils. The purest form however is in bottled essential oils.
Now make sure you give essential oils a try today… Because you now have the perfect way to relax your mind and body and reduce stress – fast!
