Essential Oil Research

A report from a UK hospital has shown some positive results of essential oils helping to reduce snoring, and the effects of snoring, leading to a better night’s sleep for bed partners (source dcscience.net). The research involved recruiting suitable individuals via a Snoring Clinic and gathering the results of their use of three ”Help Stop Snoring’ products. Ninety eight people recorded their results (either positive or not on a scale of 0 – 10), over a 14 day period of the use of a spray (containing drops of essential oils), a gargle mixture (containing drops of beneficial essential oils) and a placebo (gargle).

Essential Oil Results

The double blind test results showed that the following percentage of patients recorded a reduction in snoring of their partners:

Spray containing essential  – 82%

Gargle containing essential oil – 71%

Placebo (Gargle) – 44%

The report shows some clear signs that using a spray with pure natural essential oils could help with snoring. There are some commercial sprays available but why not save money and try your own blend of oil remedies using our guide to essential oils and a simple spray bottle dispenser. Take care to dilute any sprays, or mixture for gargles and only use a weak mixture (seek medical advice if in doubt). There are many more beneficial uses of the hundreds of pure natural essential oils available.
