Aromatherapy Candles - Relax and Unwind
Posted June 9th, 2009 by AdrianWith the stress and strain of everyday life, it’s easy not to put aside a little time to relax and unwind. Using aromatherapy candles can be a great way to fragrance your home and destress by lighting your favourite scented candle, sitting back, and letting the luxurious aromatics overcome you.
Why You Should Learn to Relax
Aromatherapy can be a great alternative to traditional medicinal ways to improve your health. Generally aromatherapy is associated with essential oils and their use to affect your mood in a positive way. Typically, stress is one of the most prevalent conditions in the work-place today and according to recent surveys the problems are on the increase.
Here are some figures concerning stress in the workplace in Britain today (by HSE):
In 2007/08 an estimated 442,000 individuals in Britain, who worked in the last year, believed that they were experiencing work-related stress at a level that was making them ill, according to the Labour Force Survey (LFS).
Using Scented Aromatherapy Candles to Help You De-Stress
Although not 100% proven, the use of aromatherapy by way of essential oils and pleasant fragrances has been shown to improve our general well-being.
A report from School of Applied Science in London said the following:
Studies have shown that essential oils have an effect on brainwaves and can also alter behaviour. It is possible that most of the effect of the oils is probably transmitted through the brain via the olfactory system. Used professionally and safely, aromatherapy can be of great benefit as an adjunct to conventional medicine or used simply as an alternative.
Consider using aromatherapy candles as they contain elements of natural plant extracts to help promote relaxation or to uplift you if you’re feeling drained. Before you light your scented candle, place a few drops of essential oil onto the top then light. The scent of the candle is further enhanced by using the fragrance oil along with your favourite candle. Go on try it… create some ‘me time’ by filling your room with the beautiful fragrances of aromatherapy candles today.
